DEFRA are offering grants throughout England of up to 40% of the cost of installing Biomass heating systems or CHP systems (up to a maximum of £100,000). Further details here:

6 month delay in the introduction of commercial EPC's.

The government has delayed the introduction of commercial EPC's for buildings over 10,000m2, which were to have been compulsory for all buildings rented out or sold after April 6th.

How will the Code For Sustainable Homes affect you when it becomes compulsory on 1st May 2008?

It will become compulsory for all new homes to be rated against the Code from the 1st May this year. The rating certificate will have to be placed in the HIP before marketing can commence.

New rules for homes over 450m²

Large dwellings over 450m²

The limitation on SAP usage for Part L compliance for dwellings with total floor area of 450 m or more has been removed and SAP, rather than SBEM, should be used for Part L compliance for such dwellings.
